Daniel founded Thornmark in 1998 to provide tactical investment management services in Canada. Prior to founding Thornmark, Daniel was Chief Investment Officer of a private investment management and real estate development company. In the early ‘90s, Daniel developed Thornmark's Value-Shift™ investment philosophy, which remains a foundation of Thornmark's tactical investment process, balancing growth with capital protection. With over 20-years of investment management experience, Daniel is a graduate of Queen's University and is a past director of the Hope for Children Foundation and a member of both the Casey House Foundation Committee and Ron White Foundation Advisory Committee. He is a member of the Toronto CFA Society and the Portfolio Management Association of Canada.
Paul Spagnolo, CFA, CA

pspagnolo@thornmark.com Paul is responsible for Thornmark’s strategy implementation, business management and operations. Prior to joining Thornmark, he was a Vice-President at Rockwater Asset Management Inc., where he ran the day-to-day business operations of a billion dollar asset management firm. He has held previous positions as Director, Wealth Management Finance with CIBC and with Arthur Andersen Business Consulting and Arthur Andersen LLP. Paul is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario (Ivey School of Business) and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a Chartered Accountant (CA). He is a member of the Portfolio Management Association of Canada.

Chris is a Portfolio Manager and Partner at Thornmark. He works with high net worth and institutional clients across Canada to build investment portfolios, which are designed to achieve clients’ specific financial objectives, in addition to being responsible for the firm’s business development. Prior to joining Thornmark, Chris was a Vice-President at a major Canadian investment counseling firm and was an investment counselor with TAL Private Management (CIBC). Chris is a graduate of Laurentian University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. He is a director of the Fort York Food Bank and is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Toronto. Chris volunteers with Charity Intelligence (Ci) Canada, managing the assessments of food bank-related charities to help people make better-informed giving decisions.

Tim is a Portfolio Manager and Partner at Thornmark. Prior to joining Thornmark, Tim was a Vice-President at a major Canadian investment counseling firm and an investment advisor with RBC Dominion Securities. Tim is a graduate of Nipissing University, where he earned an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting, and he holds the Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation. He is a director of both the Rotary Club of Whitby and the Unity Charity.
